ZINC OXIDE
Is ZINC OXIDE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Zinc Oxide can be useful in protective or sunscreen formulas, but it is not a proven stand-alone seborrheic dermatitis treatment. Its mineral particles sit on the skin to provide coverage, protection or UV filtering, while the complete base determines whether the product feels soothing, drying or heavy.
Laboratory studies found activity from specially prepared Zinc Oxide nanoparticles against Malassezia, but that does not tell us how ordinary cosmetic Zinc Oxide works on human seb derm. Use the finished product for its stated purpose and stop if it repeatedly increases dryness, stinging or redness.

What is ZINC OXIDE used for in skincare?
Zinc Oxide is an insoluble mineral powder used as a skin protectant, colourant, bulking agent and permitted UV filter. It gives physical coverage and can help form a protective layer in sunscreens and barrier products. Particle form, coating and the surrounding formula strongly affect how it spreads and feels.
