VANILLIN
Is VANILLIN safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Vanillin is context-dependent for seborrheic dermatitis. It adds a sweet vanilla-like scent, but fragrance is optional and can make a product harder to tolerate when the skin is already burning, itchy or inflamed.
A published lip-product case provides contact-sensitivity context, but it cannot show how common reactions are or predict every skincare product. Vanillin does not directly feed the usual long-chain Malassezia lipid screen, and no direct seb derm benefit was found. During a flare, a fragrance-free formula is the simpler choice if scented products tend to sting.

What is VANILLIN used for in skincare?
Vanillin is the principal aroma molecule associated with vanilla and can be made from vanilla or other raw materials. In skincare it is used mainly to create or round out warm, sweet fragrance notes, not to condition or treat the skin. It is often blended with other perfume materials, flavour ingredients and masking agents in creams, balms and cleansers.
