TROMETHAMINE
Is TROMETHAMINE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Tromethamine keeps its lower-concern label for seborrheic dermatitis. It adjusts pH and helps some active ingredients dissolve or remain stable, but it does not treat yeast or inflammation itself.
It is not a fatty acid or oil and does not fit the usual Malassezia lipid screen. No direct human seb derm or exact ingredient-specific yeast study was found. Its real effect is usually through the finished formula's pH, so a well-balanced product may be comfortable while a strong acid or cleansing system can still sting.

What is TROMETHAMINE used for in skincare?
Tromethamine, also called tris, is an amino alcohol used to raise or buffer pH. It can neutralise acidic thickeners, improve stability and help active ingredients remain in the desired form. It is often combined with carbomer, exfoliating acids, water, humectants and preservatives in serums, gels, cleansers and sunscreens.
