THYMOL
Is THYMOL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Thymol has an interesting but very limited Malassezia signal, so it should not be treated as a proven seborrheic dermatitis remedy. It is context-dependent: laboratory activity may sound helpful, while its aromatic nature can still be irritating or sensitising for some skin.
The positive evidence comes from culture work on a dog-associated Malassezia species, not human seb derm, human topical dosing or a finished skincare product. A cosmetic safety review covers reported use conditions, but that does not turn Thymol into a treatment. During a flare, use a product only if it is formulated gently and stop if it causes burning or increased redness.

What is THYMOL used for in skincare?
Thymol is an aromatic phenolic compound found in thyme oils and also produced for controlled use. In personal care it may contribute fragrance, deodorising or antimicrobial formula support. It is often used at low levels alongside other fragrance or preservation ingredients because the raw material is potent.
