THIOGLYCERIN
Is THIOGLYCERIN safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
There is not enough current evidence to rate Thioglycerin confidently for seborrheic dermatitis. It is used for chemical reducing or hair-removal performance, not as a routine seb derm treatment.
An older report described allergic eczema from thioglycerin-containing depilatory creams, but it cannot estimate present-day risk or isolate every formula factor. No exact seb derm or Malassezia study was found. Because reducing products can be irritating, follow product directions closely and avoid damaged flare skin unless the product is intended for that area.

What is THIOGLYCERIN used for in skincare?
Thioglycerin is glycerin modified with a sulfur-containing thiol group. It acts as a reducing agent that can break chemical bonds in hair and is used mainly in depilatory or hair-processing formulas. It is often combined with alkaline pH adjusters, thickeners, surfactants and fragrance in tightly controlled specialty products.
