TARTARIC ACID
Is TARTARIC ACID safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
There is not enough seb derm-specific evidence to call Tartaric Acid clearly helpful or harmful. It is mainly used to adjust pH and sometimes support exfoliation, not as a proven treatment for seborrheic dermatitis.
Alpha-hydroxy-acid effects depend strongly on concentration and final pH, and stronger use can cause burning, itching or irritation. That matters more during a flare when the skin barrier is already uncomfortable. A low amount used to balance a formula is very different from an exfoliating product, so let product strength and skin response guide the decision.

What is TARTARIC ACID used for in skincare?
Tartaric Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid found naturally in grapes and also made for cosmetic use. Formulators use it to adjust pH, support exfoliating blends and help manage the stability or sensory feel of a product. It is often combined with other acids, humectants and soothing ingredients, with the final pH determining much of its effect.
