STEARETH-21
Is STEARETH-21 safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Steareth-21 can be usable with seborrheic dermatitis, but it is not automatically gentle during a flare. It helps oils mix into water and can support cleansing, so the concentration, rinse-off time and surrounding surfactants matter more than the name alone.
No direct human seb derm or exact-name Malassezia evidence was found. General surfactant research shows that the finished cleansing system largely determines irritation. If a wash repeatedly leaves skin tight, stinging or itchier, choose a gentler formula.

What is STEARETH-21 used for in skincare?
Steareth-21 is made by adding ethylene oxide units to stearyl alcohol. It works mainly as an emulsifier and surfactant, helping oily and watery ingredients stay evenly mixed and improving rinse-off in cleansers, creams and hair products. It is a formula-building ingredient, not an antifungal treatment.
