Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Is Sodium Laureth Sulfate safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Sodium Laureth Sulfate can be used with seborrheic dermatitis, but the finished cleanser must be mild enough for inflamed skin. It is a strong cleansing and foaming ingredient, so frequency, concentration and the rest of the surfactant blend matter more than the word sulfate alone.
SLES is different from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and an irritation concern should not be turned into a claim that it feeds Malassezia. Some rinse-off formulas may be comfortable; others may leave skin tight or stinging. Stop or reduce use if a cleanser repeatedly worsens discomfort.

What is Sodium Laureth Sulfate used for in skincare?
Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or SLES, is used to lift oil and debris and create foam in rinse-off products. Formulators can combine it with other surfactants and conditioning ingredients to change mildness. Its value is cleansing performance, not antifungal treatment activity.
