RICINUS COMMUNIS SEED OIL
Is RICINUS COMMUNIS SEED OIL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, better known as castor oil, has an uncertain fit for seborrheic dermatitis. It is a rich conditioning oil, and strict Malassezia-conscious routines often screen plant oils cautiously even though a finished product cannot be judged from one ingredient alone.
Older laboratory work found species-specific use of castor oil and related materials by Malassezia, but it did not test a cosmetic formula or a human seb derm flare. That makes the concern theoretical rather than proof of harm. During an active flare, a simpler oil-free option may be easier to assess; otherwise watch for repeated itching or redness.

What is RICINUS COMMUNIS SEED OIL used for in skincare?
Ricinus Communis Seed Oil is castor oil pressed from the seeds of the castor plant and composed mainly of triglycerides rich in ricinoleic acid. It is used to soften skin and hair, add shine and give balms, cleansers and lip products a dense, glossy slip. It is not a proven seb derm treatment.
