RESORCINOL
Is RESORCINOL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Resorcinol is context-dependent for seborrheic dermatitis. It is mainly used in regulated hair-colour products and some limited lotion or shampoo uses, not as a seb derm treatment.
The SCCS supports specified cosmetic uses and concentrations but also recognises sensitisation potential. That matters when the scalp is already inflamed or the skin barrier is broken. Use only as directed, avoid treating persistent burning or an itchy rash as a normal flare, and consider professional allergy assessment if a repeat reaction follows hair colouring.

What is RESORCINOL used for in skincare?
Resorcinol is an aromatic ingredient used primarily as a colour-developing intermediate in oxidative hair dyes. It can also have antioxidant, denaturing or perfuming functions in specific cosmetic contexts, but its use is tightly concentration- and product-dependent. It is normally combined with other dye intermediates and an oxidising developer rather than used as a general skincare active.
