PROPYL GALLATE
Is PROPYL GALLATE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Propyl Gallate needs consideration within its finished formula and your allergy history. Its published cosmetic assessment from 2007 limited the uses assessed to no more than 0.1%; that historical finding does not guarantee individual comfort or establish a seb derm treatment effect.
Contact allergy has been reported, including one person with seb derm who reacted to several ingredients in an emollient. That case and broader gallate reports cannot describe everyone’s risk. A newer assessment is still awaiting final review, so its draft does not replace the published finding. Consider the complete product and known allergies, and ask a clinician or pharmacist about recurring irritation.

What is PROPYL GALLATE used for in skincare?
Propyl Gallate is the propyl ester of gallic acid, recorded with antioxidant and perfuming functions. The antioxidant role concerns limiting oxidation within a formula. It is not a long-chain fatty-acid ester, and a shared ester name does not establish the same fungal-substrate behaviour.
