POLYQUATERNIUM-37
Is POLYQUATERNIUM-37 safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Polyquaternium-37 is context-dependent rather than automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis. It conditions and forms a smooth film, but it does not treat the condition or provide a free fatty acid.
No applicable human seb derm or ingredient-specific Malassezia study was found. Its main effect is on feel, hold and texture, so surrounding fragrance, oils, preservatives and cleansing strength are more important for a flare. A film-forming product may feel heavy to some people, but that is a personal formula response rather than proof of yeast feeding.

What is POLYQUATERNIUM-37 used for in skincare?
Polyquaternium-37 is a positively charged synthetic polymer that reduces static, improves slip and leaves a conditioning film. It also helps thicken and stabilise emulsions or suspend ingredients. It is frequently paired with surfactants, emollients and other polymers in haircare and skin products.
