POLYISOBUTENE
Is POLYISOBUTENE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Polyisobutene is generally a lower-concern ingredient for seborrheic dermatitis. It improves binding, film formation and texture but does not treat the condition.
This synthetic hydrocarbon polymer is not a free fatty acid or plant oil, and no ingredient-specific Malassezia concern was found. Its main effect is on the feel and wear of the complete product. If a heavy balm traps heat or is difficult to remove comfortably, that experience matters more than the polymer name alone.

What is POLYISOBUTENE used for in skincare?
Polyisobutene is a synthetic polymer that forms a flexible, water-resistant film and gives oils or balms a thicker, smoother feel. It helps bind pigments, improve wear and reduce product migration. It is often combined with waxes, emollients and other hydrocarbon film formers in lip products, makeup and protective skincare.
