OCTOCRYLENE
Is OCTOCRYLENE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Octocrylene is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis. It is a regulated UV filter used in sunscreens, but ingredient-specific seb derm evidence is limited. Whether it suits affected skin depends more on the complete sunscreen and personal tolerance.
No applicable evidence found for this page shows that Octocrylene feeds Malassezia or treats seb derm. Other filters, emollients, fragrance and film formers may have a larger effect on comfort. Choose a properly labelled sunscreen that feels comfortable and stop if it repeatedly causes stinging, redness or itching.

What is OCTOCRYLENE used for in skincare?
Octocrylene absorbs mainly UVB radiation and helps stabilise some other sunscreen filters. It contributes to the protection delivered by a fully tested sunscreen system. Its presence alone cannot establish the SPF, UVA protection or skin feel of the finished product.
