MEL
Is MEL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Mel, the INCI name for honey, is not automatically unsuitable for seborrheic dermatitis and has some early direct research interest. It mainly attracts water and conditions skin in cosmetics, while ordinary honey products are not proven treatments.
One old, uncontrolled 30-person study reported improvement when diluted crude honey was left on seb derm areas for three hours every other day. That demanding protocol is not the same as a cream or cleanser containing a small amount of honey, and the study lacked a blinded vehicle control. Treat it as promising but limited evidence, not a guarantee.

What is MEL used for in skincare?
Mel is the cosmetic ingredient name for honey, a concentrated mixture of sugars, water and smaller amounts of proteins, acids and plant-derived compounds. It acts mainly as a humectant and skin conditioner. It is often combined with glycerin, botanical extracts, emollients and surfactants in masks, cleansers, balms and moisturisers.
