LANOLIN
Is LANOLIN safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Lanolin is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, and it can soften dry or cracked skin in a well-tolerated formula. It is also a rich wax mixture, so a heavy leave-on product may be harder to assess during an active, oily or itchy flare.
Strict Malassezia-conscious screening may flag its fatty esters, but no study checked Lanolin itself as a human seb derm trigger. Contact allergy is a separate, better documented concern in referred dermatitis patients. If a lanolin product repeatedly causes itching, spreading redness or worsening irritation, stop using it.

What is LANOLIN used for in skincare?
Lanolin is a purified wax obtained from sheep wool and contains a complex mixture of wax esters, alcohols, sterols, fatty acids and hydrocarbons. It is used as an emollient and water-resistant base that softens skin, reduces moisture loss and gives ointments or balms a dense protective feel.
