ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL
Is ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Isopropyl Alcohol is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, but it can be a poor fit when skin is actively inflamed. It evaporates quickly and may help a light formula dry down, yet alcohol-containing products can also sting or feel drying on an already irritated barrier.
The current cosmetic-use assessment does not flag a specific ingredient problem, and no useful Malassezia effect was found. What matters is how much is used, whether the product is rinsed off and what else is in the formula. During a flare, favour products that do not leave your skin tight, burning or red.

What is ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL used for in skincare?
Isopropyl Alcohol is used as a solvent to dissolve ingredients, adjust viscosity and help some formulas evaporate quickly. It may also support antifoaming or fragrance delivery. It is not the same as a moisturising fatty alcohol, and it does not act as a seborrheic dermatitis treatment.
