HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL
Is HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Hydrogenated Castor Oil is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, and its existing cosmetic assessment remains lower concern. It is used to thicken and stabilise products or add a smooth, waxy feel rather than to treat seb derm.
Strict Malassezia-screening routines often avoid hydrogenated oils because they still contain long-chain lipid structures. Laboratory work shows species-specific use of castor-oil-related materials, but Hydrogenated Castor Oil in a finished cosmetic was not tested. This is a theoretical screening concern, so judge the complete formula and stop if it repeatedly worsens symptoms.

What is HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL used for in skincare?
Hydrogenated Castor Oil is castor oil that has been processed into a firmer, more wax-like material. It is used to thicken sticks, balms and creams, improve stability and add slip or structure. Its function is texture and conditioning, not antifungal treatment.
