HEXAMETHYLINDANOPYRAN
Is HEXAMETHYLINDANOPYRAN safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Hexamethylindanopyran is context-dependent for seborrheic dermatitis because it is a fragrance material. It does not feed Malassezia in the usual fatty-acid sense, but fragrance can be an avoidable source of irritation or allergy when skin is already inflamed.
No direct seb derm or exact Malassezia study was found. Many people tolerate fragranced products, but a leave-on scalp or face product creates longer exposure than a rinse-off wash. If fragrance repeatedly brings on itching, burning or redness, a fragrance-free alternative is the simpler choice.
