ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE
Is ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Ethylhexyl Palmitate is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, but people following a strict Malassezia-screening routine may prefer to avoid it. It is a silky emollient ester, not a treatment, and direct evidence in seb derm is missing.
Laboratory studies show that Malassezia can use free palmitic acid and can hydrolyse some fatty-acid esters, but they did not test Ethylhexyl Palmitate in a finished cosmetic or on people. That makes the concern theoretical rather than a guaranteed reaction. Consider the product type and stop if a leave-on formula repeatedly worsens itching or redness.

What is ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE used for in skincare?
Ethylhexyl Palmitate is an ester made from palmitic acid and ethylhexyl alcohol. It gives creams, makeup and sunscreens a smooth, lightweight slip, helps powders spread and can reduce a greasy feel. Its purpose is sensory performance and emollience, not antifungal activity.
