COCONUT ACID
Is COCONUT ACID safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Coconut Acid is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, and its published cosmetic assessment is lower concern. It is usually included to help cleanse, emulsify or soften a formula, but it is a mixture of fatty acids rather than the same material as pure coconut oil.
A strict Malassezia-conscious screen may flag the longer-chain fatty acids that can be present. Laboratory culture studies show that some C12 to C24 free fatty acids can support yeast growth, but they did not test Coconut Acid in a finished product or on human skin. Treat this as a theoretical caution and judge the whole formula by repeated comfort.

What is COCONUT ACID used for in skincare?
Coconut Acid is the mixed fatty-acid portion obtained from coconut oil. Formulators use it to help build cleansing surfactants, stabilize emulsions and add emollient character. Because its composition is a blend, the role and feel can differ from one finished product to another.
