COCO-BETAINE
Is COCO-BETAINE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Coco-Betaine can be suitable for seborrheic dermatitis in a gentle rinse-off formula, but it is not irritation-proof. Its main job is cleansing and foam support. Rare case reports describe allergic contact dermatitis to Coco-Betaine in shampoo, so repeated itching or redness after washing deserves attention.
This is an allergy and formula-tolerance issue, not evidence that Coco-Betaine feeds Malassezia. It is also a different ingredient from Cocamidopropyl Betaine, so the names should not be treated as interchangeable. Rinse thoroughly and stop a product that repeatedly makes affected skin sting, tighten or redden.

What is COCO-BETAINE used for in skincare?
Coco-Betaine is an amphoteric surfactant used in shampoos, face washes and body cleansers. It helps water lift oil and debris, supports foam and can make a surfactant blend feel milder. The complete cleansing system, concentration and rinse time determine how comfortable it feels.
