CLIMBAZOLE
Is CLIMBAZOLE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Climbazole can be a reasonable ingredient in a rinse-off anti-dandruff shampoo for someone with seborrheic dermatitis, but it is not an automatic green light. It is used as an anti-dandruff antifungal, while the clinical evidence checked here comes from complete shampoos that also contained zinc pyrithione or other actives. Those studies cannot show what climbazole does by itself.
The whole product matters as much as the ingredient name. In a 620-person dandruff study, a zinc-pyrithione formula designed to improve delivery performed better than a formula containing zinc pyrithione and climbazole, underlining the importance of the shampoo vehicle. Use a properly labelled product as directed, and stop if it repeatedly causes burning, itching or redness.

What is CLIMBAZOLE used for in skincare?
In skincare, climbazole is mainly included in anti-dandruff shampoos to help provide antifungal activity against scalp flaking. It can also be used as a preservative in certain cosmetic products under defined conditions. The percentage, rinse-off or leave-on format, local rules and rest of the formula all affect what the ingredient name means in practice.
