CETYL PALMITATE
Is CETYL PALMITATE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Cetyl Palmitate is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, but people using a strict Malassezia-screening routine may choose to avoid it. It is a waxy emollient that thickens formulas, and there is no direct human seb derm evidence for the ingredient.
Laboratory work shows Malassezia can use free palmitic acid and can hydrolyse some fatty-acid esters, but Cetyl Palmitate in a finished product was not tested. The concern is therefore theoretical, not proof of a flare trigger. A small amount in a rinse-off product is different from a rich leave-on balm, so judge the whole formula and your response.

What is CETYL PALMITATE used for in skincare?
Cetyl Palmitate is a wax ester made from cetyl alcohol and palmitic acid. It thickens creams and sticks, improves glide and leaves a soft emollient film. It is used for structure and skin feel rather than as a seborrheic-dermatitis treatment.
