CETETH-20
Is CETETH-20 safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Ceteth-20 is context-dependent for seborrheic dermatitis. It is used to mix oils into water and stabilise a formula, not to control the yeast or inflammation involved in seb derm.
Its fatty alcohol component is chemically bound into an ethoxylated surfactant, which is different from applying a free long-chain fatty acid. No direct human seb derm or exact Malassezia evidence was found. A well-formulated cream may be comfortable, but a high-surfactant or fragranced product can still sting compromised skin.

What is CETETH-20 used for in skincare?
Ceteth-20 is cetyl alcohol joined to an average of 20 ethylene-oxide units. This structure makes it useful as a nonionic emulsifier and solubiliser, helping oily and watery ingredients stay evenly mixed. It is often combined with fatty alcohols, glyceryl emulsifiers, oils, silicones and preservatives in lotions, creams and hair conditioners.
