CETEARETH-12
Is CETEARETH-12 safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Ceteareth-12 is context-dependent for seborrheic dermatitis rather than automatically unsafe. It helps oil and water stay mixed and may support cleansing, but it is not a treatment for seb derm.
No direct human seb derm or ingredient-specific Malassezia evidence was found. Although its starting material is a fatty alcohol, Ceteareth-12 is an ethoxylated surfactant and should not be treated as a free fatty acid. Concentration, the wider surfactant system and rinse-off versus leave-on use are more important for irritation and comfort.

What is CETEARETH-12 used for in skincare?
Ceteareth-12 is made by adding ethylene-oxide units to cetearyl alcohol. It helps emulsify oils into water, improves the stability and spread of creams and can support cleansing. It is often combined with fatty alcohols, oils and other emulsifiers to build a smooth, consistent texture.
