CERESIN
Is CERESIN safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Ceresin keeps its lower-concern label for seborrheic dermatitis. It thickens balms and forms a protective film, but it does not treat Malassezia or inflammation.
Ceresin is a hydrocarbon wax rather than a free fatty acid, glyceride or fatty-acid ester, so the practical Malassezia lipid screen does not apply directly. No exact human seb derm study was found. A wax-rich balm can still feel heavy or occlusive on oily flare areas, making product format and personal comfort important.

What is CERESIN used for in skincare?
Ceresin is a refined mineral hydrocarbon wax used to add structure, raise melting point and reduce oiliness in solid or semi-solid products. It forms a smooth film and helps sticks keep their shape. It is often combined with petrolatum, mineral oil, other waxes, pigments and emollients in balms, ointments, lip products and makeup.
