CAPRYLOYL SALICYLIC ACID
Is CAPRYLOYL SALICYLIC ACID safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
There is not enough evidence to rate Capryloyl Salicylic Acid confidently for seborrheic dermatitis. It is an oil-soluble exfoliating ingredient that may help lift surface buildup, but it is not an established seb derm treatment and can irritate an active flare.
A 2024 cosmetic safety reassessment found the available data insufficient to determine safety under intended uses. That is a data-gap conclusion, not proof of harm. Its capryloyl portion is C8 and outside the usual C11 to C24 practical lipid screen, but the more immediate question is whether the finished exfoliating formula stings, dries or reddens your skin.

What is CAPRYLOYL SALICYLIC ACID used for in skincare?
Capryloyl Salicylic Acid is a lipophilic derivative of salicylic acid, often called LHA. Its oil affinity supports gradual surface exfoliation and is used to smooth texture or help keep pores clear. It is often combined with salicylic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids, retinoids, niacinamide and soothing agents in exfoliating serums and cleansers.
