CANOLA OIL
Is CANOLA OIL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Canola Oil is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, and its existing label remains lower concern, but a strict Malassezia-screening routine may choose to avoid it during an active flare. It is an emollient triglyceride oil rather than a proven treatment.
Canola oil contains mostly long-chain unsaturated fatty acids bound inside triglycerides. Laboratory work showing Malassezia growth with free C12 to C24 fatty acids does not prove that a finished product containing Canola Oil will trigger seb derm, while a small general-skin study of irritated skin is not seb derm evidence either. If you use a strict screen, choose an oil-free option; otherwise judge the complete formula and your repeat response.

What is CANOLA OIL used for in skincare?
Canola Oil is a plant oil pressed from low-erucic-acid rapeseed and made mainly of triglycerides rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids. In skincare it softens the skin, reduces a dry feel and carries oil-soluble ingredients. It is often blended with other plant oils, waxes, emulsifiers and antioxidants in creams, balms and hair conditioners.
