BIFONAZOLE
Is BIFONAZOLE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Bifonazole has direct evidence from a small controlled scalp study, so it may be useful when it is delivered in a product intended for seborrheic dermatitis. In that study, a 1% bifonazole shampoo used three times a week improved scaling, itching and overall assessment more than its vehicle shampoo over six weeks.
The evidence is still limited: only 44 people took part, the study is older and it tested one finished shampoo for a short period. It does not show that every bifonazole cream or shampoo will behave the same way. Follow the exact product's directions and ask a pharmacist or clinician if you are unsure whether it is intended for your scalp, face or another area.

What is BIFONAZOLE used for in skincare?
Bifonazole is an imidazole antifungal medicine used in topical products. Its role is to disrupt the production of ergosterol, an important part of fungal cell membranes. That medicine-level action is different from the supporting role of a cosmetic moisturiser or cleanser. A product's format still matters: a scalp shampoo studied in seborrheic dermatitis cannot automatically stand in for a cream made and labelled for a different fungal condition.
