BETA-SITOSTEROL
Is BETA-SITOSTEROL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Beta-Sitosterol keeps its lower-concern label for seborrheic dermatitis. It is a plant sterol used to condition skin and support the feel of lipid formulas, but it is not an established antifungal or flare treatment.
Experimental topical work shows that delivery depends heavily on the carrier, and no direct human seb derm study was found. A sterol is chemically different from the free fatty acids highlighted in practical Malassezia screens. The surrounding oils and emulsifiers are therefore more important than the word plant alone.

What is BETA-SITOSTEROL used for in skincare?
Beta-Sitosterol is a phytosterol found in many plant oils and waxy fractions. Skincare uses it as an emollient and skin-conditioning ingredient, and it may also help organise lipid delivery systems. It is often combined with plant oils, lecithin, ceramides, cholesterol-like lipids and antioxidants in creams, balms and barrier-focused formulas.
