BENZYL SALICYLATE
Is BENZYL SALICYLATE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Benzyl Salicylate deserves caution in seborrheic dermatitis because it is used as a fragrance ingredient and can matter for fragrance-sensitive skin. It is not the same ingredient as salicylic acid and should not be expected to exfoliate scale or treat a flare.
Concentration, exposure and personal allergy history determine much of the risk. The checked sources do not show that Benzyl Salicylate feeds or controls Malassezia. If a fragranced product repeatedly triggers itching, burning or redness, stop using it and consider a simpler alternative.

What is BENZYL SALICYLATE used for in skincare?
Benzyl Salicylate is the benzyl ester of salicylic acid and is used for fragrance. Its similar-sounding name does not give it the keratolytic role associated with salicylic acid. In skincare it is a scent component, not a scale-removing seb derm active.
