BENZOPHENONE-4
Is BENZOPHENONE-4 safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Benzophenone-4 is not automatically unsafe for seborrheic dermatitis, but it can be a contact-allergy issue for a minority of people. It is used to absorb ultraviolet light or protect a formula, not to treat seb derm.
A large patch-test study found positive reactions to Benzophenone-4 in a selected dermatitis referral population, so it is sensible to take repeated redness or itching seriously. The study does not predict the risk for every sunscreen user, and no ingredient-specific Malassezia evidence was found. If a product consistently irritates affected areas, switch formulas rather than assuming the reaction is part of the flare.

What is BENZOPHENONE-4 used for in skincare?
Benzophenone-4 is a water-soluble ultraviolet absorber also known as sulisobenzone. It may be used as a permitted UV filter or to help protect a product and its colour from light. The finished sunscreen system determines protection and skin feel; this ingredient alone does not establish SPF.
