ASCORBYL PALMITATE
Is ASCORBYL PALMITATE safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Ascorbyl Palmitate is currently a lower-concern cosmetic ingredient, but a strict Malassezia-screening routine may still flag it because it is an ester of vitamin C and palmitic acid. In formulas it is mainly used as an oil-soluble antioxidant, not as a proven seborrheic dermatitis treatment.
Laboratory research shows that Malassezia can use some long-chain fatty acids and hydrolyse certain synthetic esters, but it does not show that Ascorbyl Palmitate in a finished product causes a flare. The concern is theoretical and should not be presented as clinical proof. Judge the full formula and use extra caution only if you are running a strict elimination trial.

What is ASCORBYL PALMITATE used for in skincare?
Ascorbyl Palmitate is an oil-soluble derivative made from ascorbic acid and palmitic acid. It is used mainly to help protect oils and formulas from oxidation and may support skin-conditioning claims. It behaves differently from water-soluble vitamin C and is not an antifungal treatment.
