ANHYDROXYLITOL
Is ANHYDROXYLITOL safe for seborrheic dermatitis?
Anhydroxylitol is generally a lower-concern ingredient for seborrheic dermatitis. It helps a formula hold water and support a softer skin feel, but it does not treat Malassezia or a flare.
It is a sugar-derived humectant rather than an oil or long-chain fatty acid, so the usual Malassezia lipid-screening concern does not directly apply. No exact human seb derm study was found. A simple hydrating formula may be comfortable, while fragrance, acids or preservatives elsewhere in the product can still determine whether it stings.

What is ANHYDROXYLITOL used for in skincare?
Anhydroxylitol is a modified form of the sugar alcohol xylitol used as a humectant and skin-conditioning ingredient. It helps attract and retain water and is commonly part of multi-humectant blends. It often appears with xylitol, xylitylglucoside, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and panthenol in serums, cleansers and moisturisers.
